Short answer. From 30 November 2026, a UK student visa for a 9-month London course needs £1,570 a month, £14,130 in all, held for 28 days in a row: about ₹17,84,478 at ₹126.29 to the pound. Apply before then and it's £1,529 a month. Ireland asks €10,000 a year; Germany's blocked account, €11,904.

The rate is the hidden fee
The methodThe visa officer sees a number in pounds or euros. You see a number in rupees. Between the two sits your bank, and the bank's rate is never the reference rate. On a London course, ₹2.71 a pound sounds like loose change. On £14,130 it's ₹38,292, roughly a month's rent in a Pune 2BHK, gone before the student has unpacked.
The fix isn't a magic provider. It's arithmetic. Ask two or three places for their rate on the same day, put each quote in the box, and look at the markup line. Then look at the 1% line: that's how much the bill swings if the rupee moves while you wait. Waiting for a "better rate" is a bet, and the 1% line tells you the size of it.
And the UK adds a clock. The money must sit in the account for 28 days in a row, and those 28 days must end no more than 31 days before you apply. Move it in late, or dip below the line for a single day, and the count starts again.
Worked example
Our calculation| UK, 9-month course, £1 = ₹126.29 | Apply before 30 Nov 2026 | Apply on or after 30 Nov 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| London: money to show | £13,761 = ₹17,37,877 | £14,130 = ₹17,84,478 |
| Outside London: money to show | £10,539 = ₹13,30,970 | £10,827 = ₹13,67,342 |
Take London, applying on or after 30 November: £1,570 × 9 = £14,130, which is ₹17,84,478 at ₹126.29. A bank that quotes ₹129.00 charges ₹2.71 more per pound, so the same £14,130 costs ₹38,292 more (14,130 × 2.71). If the rupee moves 1% before you send it, the bill moves ₹17,845. Applying before 30 November keeps the old £1,529 a month: £13,761, or ₹46,601 less in rupees.

Read these first- It covers one student. No dependants, no partner, no children.
- No scholarships, sponsor letters or official financial sponsorship, which can lower or replace the amount.
- No country-specific exemptions, such as the UK's for students who have already held UK permission for 12 months.
- Tuition rules vary. The UK adds unpaid first-year fees to the money you show; for the other countries the tool leaves fees out unless you say yes. Check what your country and university ask for.
- Only the UK's 28-day holding rule is worked out. Other countries have their own rules on how and where the money is held.
- Italy's figure is from a consulate checklist and stays marked "check the official page" until we find it in a ministry or legal text.
- It doesn't pick a country, a bank, a blocked-account provider or a transfer service, and never will.
