How we verify
Every claim carries a number. Every number is checked where it was born.
Primary sources only
We check every figure at the source that owns it: SEBI, RBI, CBDT, PFRDA, AMFI, the ECB, Eurostat, ESMA, the statistics office, central bank, tax authority or regulator of each European country we write about, official gazettes and company filings. When a newspaper quotes a number, we go find the original.
Dated rules
Every tax or rule statement carries the date it took effect and the financial year it applies to. A rule without a date is a rumour.
Labelled numbers
Numbers a company reports about itself are marked "self-reported". Currency conversions show the rate and the date we used.
Public sources, nothing else
No insider material, no client data, nothing from anyone's day job. If you can't check it yourself, it doesn't go in.
