Short answer. In 2025, everyday household prices in Germany were about 3.6 times India's at market exchange rates, from World Bank data. So the life ₹1 lakh a month pays for in India costs about €3,624 in Germany, not the €1,015 a straight conversion gives. Ireland is about 4.5 times, Poland 2.4 times.
The calculator
Life-stage movesPut in a monthly amount and pick two countries. It shows what the same basket of everyday spending costs on the other side, from the World Bank's official price comparisons. It works both ways: rupees to euros for a move, euros to rupees for an offer you're weighing from India. Nothing you type leaves this page.
Our calculation from World Bank data. The headline uses 2025 purchasing power parities (PPPs) for household spending: the same basket costs the "to" amount there as your amount costs here. The categories come from the 2021 International Comparison Program, the latest full survey. National averages, not cities.

Why the exchange rate isn't enough
The methodAt the exchange rate, ₹1 lakh is about €1,015. But €1,015 doesn't buy in Germany what ₹1 lakh buys in India. Everyday prices there are about 3.6 times higher, at market rates.
Economists measure this with purchasing power parities. The World Bank prices the same baskets of goods and services in every country and works out how much local currency buys what one "international dollar" buys. Divide one country's figure by another's and you get the amount with the same buying power.
It cuts both ways. A €3,130 German take-home sounds like ₹3 lakh at the exchange rate. In buying power, it's closer to ₹86,000 of life in India. Neither number is "right". One is what you could send home; the other is what you'd live on there.

₹1 lakh converts to about €1,015, but it buys what about €2,900 buys in Portugal, €3,600 in Germany or €4,550 in Ireland, on national averages. Cities and your own spending can differ a lot.
What is a euro salary worth in India?
In buying power, €1 of household spending in Germany goes about as far as ₹27.6 in India (2025 World Bank PPPs), against roughly ₹98 at the 2025 average exchange rate. So a €3,130 take-home buys what about ₹86,000 buys in India.
