Short answer. For 2026, the EU Blue Card in Germany needs a gross salary of at least €50,700 a year. It's €45,934.20 for shortage occupations, people who graduated in the last three years, and IT specialists without a degree, with the Federal Employment Agency's approval. You also need a recognised degree, a matching job and a contract of six months or more.
The check
Life-stage movesPut in the gross salary on the offer and the route that fits you. This checks the salary line and lists what else the law asks for. It can't tell you whether you'll get the card: the immigration authority decides that. Nothing you type leaves this page.
Our check against the 2026 thresholds published in the Bundesanzeiger and the conditions in §18g of the Residence Act. It is not a decision on any application. The German mission or immigration office that handles your case is the final word.

Where the numbers come from
The methodThe Blue Card minimum isn't a number someone picks each year. It's tied to Germany's pension contribution ceiling: 50% of it for the general route, 45.3% for the lower routes. The ceiling for 2026 is €101,400, so the minimums are €50,700 and €45,934.20.
That's why the line moves every January. The Interior Ministry publishes the new figures in the Bundesanzeiger by 31 December. Check which year's figure applies on the date your application is decided, and leave a margin near the line.
Salary is one line on the list, not the whole list. A recognised degree, a job that matches it, and a contract of at least six months matter just as much.
